Short Stories
Usually, when I end up telling someone that I write, that I'm a writer (as weird as that sounds), they always ask if I've ever been published. "What do you write about?", also comes up at some point. This always leaves me with two big questions: 1) Will I ever get published?, 2) What is the purpose of my writing?
I mean, one can write for fun or pleasure, but getting published somewhere feels like it should always be the goal, isn't it? We write because we have stories to tell. I have many stories and ideas for stories, and to be honest, there isn't any point to not sharing them. For whatever reason, I thought they may not be good enough, or that maybe one day I'll actually get something published somewhere. It's so silly.
The main problem is that none of those stories is finished 100%, but I decided it won’t matter. I’ve been rummaging within my vast archive of text-crap I wrote for seemingly no reason (~15GB) - we’re talking about prompts, ideas, just a couple of sentences or paragraphs -, and picked 3 different files to develop and finish. Without giving much away, here they are:
City in the Sky.- A city that remains hidden in the sky, monitoring the world until their true purpose is revealed. (Sci-Fi)
The Farmer.- The story of a lone individual that ends up stuck in a farm and its peculiar resident. (Dark Fiction)
The Doctor.- A strange illness takes over a small town in the countryside, which prompts the rise of an unlikely hero. (Horror)
I’m going to ask friends and readers, to vote for one of these and publish it here on this website. (If no one votes, I’ll have to pick one myself, as sad as that may sound.)
Needless to say, there may be similar stories out there, I haven’t researched what has been written everywhere ever, but I’ll try to make what I write unique.
Hopefully, this leads to something fun!
